Uneducated, uninformed, and sometimes downright unscrupulous carpet cleaners cause a great deal of confusion by giving out false information or intentionally misrepresenting the product.

Once you have made an investment in cleaning your carpets, it is important to protect it from permanent stains, ugly spots, pet urine, liquid spills etc. that can possibly damage the carpet.   2. Not using a container/sprayer dedicated to protectant. Using the same container for both carpet cleaning as well as protectant will make the protectant ineffective
  3. Not applying the protectant properly. Some carpet cleaners will either under apply or over apply the protectant. Neither are good as under applying does not allow for complete penetration and over applying results in the carpet being stiff.
  4. Failure to groom the carpet. For optimal performance the protectant needs to be groomed into the carpet. This ensures deep penetration and contact with all surfaces of the carpet fibers.

I wasn't aware that my office hasn't had deep carpet cleaning for 9 years. I thought vacuuming once a week would be enough to keep it clean from dust and allergens, and then possibly replacing the carpet after 10 years or so.
